You’re a couple that wants the real stuff:

The candid moments, the laughs, your other half now giving you the side-eye because you said something questionable in front of their family who are now questioning everything they knew about you.

You bring the dress, the suit, and the family chaos.

It’s all you. The real you. Till death do us part, right?

"he effortlessly took responsibility off of me by taking over answering questions and directing others. When we ran low on time for photos, he made a suggestion on how to change the plan while still sticking to the core of my wants. His professionalism and creativity flowed seemingly throughout the day and shines in his work. My only regret is that he wasn’t our first shooter."

My approach to wedding photography is to give you an emotionally honest experience documented in an artful way that brings it all rushing back  10 years later —just like it was yesterday.

That being said there will be a few jokes along the way.

You deserve a photographer who understands people and knows how to make you look your best without making you feel like someone else.

You’re just looking for someone that:

*Matches the vibe and vision for your wedding.

*Is down to help you plan the fun and unique parts of your journey whether it’s an elopement hike, a D20 ice dye for cocktail hour, or performing a traditional Irish song during your ceremony.

*Makes you feel like we can just hang out and take casual pictures and have fun with it. Even if you don’t like pictures.

"Kai did a wonderful job. From our maternity photos to our engagement and finally our wedding, he captured every moment of love. We couldn’t have asked for a more professional, funny and easy going person to work with. Thank you for helping us fill our house with memories that will last a lifetime and giving us moments our kids and grand kids can look back on in years to come that really show the love that Jamie and I have for each other. We’ll be coming back for family photos in the future!"

So Who’s this guy?

Kai Bass, documentary wedding and elopement photographer serving Grand Rapids and Michigan.
Photographer Kai Bass brings a background in music and visual storytelling to wedding photography.

Hi, thanks for stopping by! I’m Kai. All of that unfortunately rhymed so I hope you had fun with that. Or not.

I’m a Michigan based wedding and elopement photographer who swapped a career in the music industry for a camera after traveling made me fall hard for visual storytelling. Since picking up a camera I haven’t stopped chasing the weird and wild parts of human nature. I strive to make images that spark something in others and make long lasting heirlooms that will bring it all rushing back 10 years later.

"Kai did videography and took some photos for our wedding. The end result was amazing! Very detailed, creative, and helpful to make sure we got exactly what we wanted for our photos and video!"

Well, I want to talk to you!

And at this point you’ve picked up on that I have a relatively dry sense of humor and I’m big on developing relationships and the whole emotional thing. You’re in love. Me too.
